Does anyone know if you can report a member to TOU for rejoining your tribe over and over when you remove them?
Just curious, I'm not there yet and I know I could keep the tribe moderated but I don't want too so I was curious if anyone had any experience with this.

Re: removed member rejoining
Mon, October 16, 2006 - 8:26 AMI'm not sure if this is an issue that has been brought up before as being a TOU violation. Given the way the TOU are currently writen I don't see how simply rejoining would be a violation. Annoying as all hell yes, but a TOU violation?
I think it would be the behaviour of the member once they have rejoined, but I should clarify that I'm not the final word on TOU around here. -

Mon, October 16, 2006 - 9:11 AMThat's what I thought might be the case. That works for serious offenders but just annoying as crap silly distruptiveness is a wierd middle zone.
thanks though.

Re: removed member rejoining
Mon, October 16, 2006 - 8:32 AMStrongvoice....I don't think there is anything in TOU to keep a removed member from rejoining a public tribe. In the past, I made it clear that the member had been removed and went on record in the tribe, saying that anything they post after a particular day and/or time would be removed as soon as I saw it.
I have found that it is a lot easier to keep volatile moderated. Although my preference would be to make Extreme honesty public again, i have found that taking the time to keep membership moderated has cut way down on the number of continuing flareups among members who deserve removal but wont go away. -

Re: removed member rejoining
Mon, October 16, 2006 - 8:55 AMYou CAN have a member removed permanently from Tribe in general for this kind of behavior however there is nothing to stop them from creating a new profile and doing it again. -

Re: removed member rejoining
Mon, October 16, 2006 - 9:20 AMI don't know if this one would do that. But he could just do that to get into the moderated tribe.
oy, I suppose I was totally due. I've been far to lucky for far too long. -

Re: removed member rejoining
Mon, October 16, 2006 - 9:26 AMIn my experience, making a tribe moderated for just a week or so will generally solve the problem. They give up after that. -

Mon, October 16, 2006 - 10:03 AMthat's kinda what I'm thinking. Hopefully he's easily distracted.

You've clearly never moderated the Extreme Honesty tribe then. Folks there hang onto stuff like this for years. -

Mon, October 16, 2006 - 2:15 PMLOL Oh Rich, I love moderating but you'd have to pay me to moderate extreme honesty. YAY for you for taking it on. -

BTW Strongvoice, EH only generates between 3 and 6 member requests a week. It's really not that big of a deal in a tribe that size. I sort of like knowing who the new members are as they join, and sometimes they even send cool notes with their request for membership. -

Re: removed member rejoining
Mon, October 16, 2006 - 3:25 PMbut if you are trying to keep people out don't you have to spend time looking through those 3-6 profiles to see if they are alts for the people you are trying to keep out? The tough part of moderating EH would be the other stuff.
I like ask a sexy woman anything being open. I get notifications when people join but I like the random late night guy who stumbles in there to ask about his romance woes. (o: Plus I know lots of people who don't bother to join if they have to put in a request, I know I often won't bother joining if I can't join right then and post my thoughts. If it was the same rate of joining as without being moderated it would be closer to 12-20 some weeks for AASWA I think. But then again I think it would drop. -

Re: removed member rejoining
Mon, October 16, 2006 - 9:18 AMI could do that. I could tell everyone to ignore him and then just delete his stuff when I see it. Maybe he'll forget about us soon.
I have some tribes that I think are better moderatated but I really don't want this one moderated. Man I would spend all of my time trying to sort through the requests to join.

So.... I have to ask.
What's your objection to people rejoining...
Is it that they are defying your authority?
Or is that they've returned and began to post objectional material again? -

Fri, October 20, 2006 - 12:09 AMhere here! having to remove someone repeatedly and have them taunt you endlessly wastes my time, but then, this never happens anymore, as a scant few post anymore. i have a steady stream of people joining, but posts are quite rare these days.
