Re: anybody know anything about this?
Wed, September 20, 2006 - 1:02 PMThe link pretty much explains it all. What else are you looking for?
I expect the pirates will go away on the next update, which I think is supposed to happen Wednesday.

Re: anybody know anything about this?
Wed, September 20, 2006 - 1:02 PMI haven't seen any pirates since midnight last night.
I'm really excited about the new stuff. I don't think that will affect this tribe though will it? since this isn't a tribe tribe, I mean it is a tribe tribe but it's not tribe's tribe tribe...that made sense in my brain. -

Re: anybody know anything about this?
Wed, September 20, 2006 - 1:06 PMYeah, I wouldn't expect it to affect this tribe. This is just Mods talking Mod things.

Re: anybody know anything about this?
Wed, September 20, 2006 - 1:13 PMmy point is I didn't know anything about any update, not to mention anything to get excited about. when & where & how did they notify anybody. It doies begin "you probably already know about this" or some such.
when & how did the general tribe population get notified of this? when were we told that there will be a system change tomorrow?I mean, before this morning.

Re: anybody know anything about this?
Wed, September 20, 2006 - 1:21 PMthey have posted several different things in a bunch of the tribe tribes,(I thought in this one before in fact). when they know for sure when they are going to do the update I am sure they will do thier little message on our home page thingy.
I happen to know more about the changes because I volunteered to go to secret tribe headquarters for some beta testing and got to see the cool stuff they are doing. I know people are going to be nervous but hopfully that will fade fast once they see new stuff which is all about function, not making room for ads or silly bubbles at the top of the page. -

Re: anybody know anything about this?
Wed, September 20, 2006 - 1:30 PMI am still reeling from the loss of Jan and have no interest in any changes wrought by those who could not hold fast in previous tribal incarnations. Have some decency you cretins, Jan's porridge is barely cooled.

Re: anybody know anything about this?
Wed, September 20, 2006 - 1:29 PMQatana,
The pirates have been taken down. If you're still seeing them it's most likely that they're caught in your browser cache. You can try a shift-reload or flushing the cache through the tools menu of your browser. -

Re: anybody know anything about this?
Wed, September 20, 2006 - 1:51 PMA shift-reload is done by holding down the shift key and clicking the reload button in your browser's toolbar. For most browsers this means reload the page and replace everything in the cache used by this page.
On FireFox and IE you'll find a 'Tools' option on the menubar. The last option on this menu will be 'Options' or "Internet Options'. This will bring up a dialog box which will have a section called 'Cache'. In that section there should be a control that will allow you to empty or clear the cache. Using that control will unload any images you browser may be holding.
If you're using a different browser it may be a little different, but they're all pretty similar. -

Re: anybody know anything about this?
Wed, September 20, 2006 - 2:10 PMI tried 3 shift reloads (thats thee refresh button, right?) and nothing happened. There is Nothing called "cache" on my internet options. Do you mean "clear cookies"? -
-
Re: anybody know anything about this?
Wed, September 20, 2006 - 2:14 PMyeah qatana - delete your cookies and temporary internet files. then refresh and you should be fixed. i also have IE and i just did that and it worked. -

Re: anybody know anything about this?
Wed, September 20, 2006 - 2:19 PMI am obviously cursed. I just did that twice and theyr'e still there. -

Re: anybody know anything about this?
Wed, September 20, 2006 - 2:33 PMFor IE here are a couple more things to try. First start with the Tools menu, Internet Options, and then the Delete Files... button in the middle of the dialog box. Before you click the OK button check the box that says Delete all offline content, and then click OK.
If that doesn't work then click the button next to the Delete Files... button that says Settings... On the dialog box that comes up you'll want to make sure that radio button at the top is set on Automatic, and then slide the slider towards the bottom all the way to the right. Click the OK, and then try the instructions for deleting files above one more time.

Re: anybody know anything about this?
Wed, September 20, 2006 - 2:39 PMTry holding CTRL down and clicking the refresh button.
Try holding SHIFT down and clicking the refresh button
Try holding SHIFT+CTRL down and clicking the refresh button.
The image HAS been updated, but your browser doesn't know this (probably because the file is the same name). You simply have to tell your browser to reload everything again from scratch on your tribe page.
